Lets Talk Parenting..

Heads up! This is a long post but totally worth the read..

As free time and date nights are usually tricky to juggle we thought this time we would do something that allowed us both to spend sometime together but was also a shared learning experience. You know those touchy feely things we could bond over 🙂 The perfect opportunity presented itself when an event called Parentalk: Parenting under12s – A survival Guide was shared by a friend on my Facebook timeline. So R80 later with my mom on standby as a babysitter off we went.

Boy oh boy was I not disappointed! One of the best talks ever! The event is run by Focus on the Family a non profit org that helps families deal with the very real issues we face in society today. The speakers were Rob Parsons and Katharine Hill to incredible authors and well known public speakers. Now I could go on and on and but if you want to know more about them – the internet is your friend 🙂 I am here to share what I learned. Some moments were so profound for me as the advice was so simple but has such great impact. Read more

Things she says…

Things she says…

My daughter is growing up at a rapid rate that is amazing and scary all at the same time. She has one of the most amazing personalities I think I may ever have come across. My husband says its because she is exactly like me, I am not so sure. She is definitely her own person and is not ashamed to tell you..

She says the most adorable things at the strangest times here are just a few of her gems: To put it in context let me tell you that she is only 3 she comes across like a  real little old lady!

  • One morning while I am tidying the house  – “Mommy – Get focus”
  • In the car on the way to work – ” Daddy can you please but the musnik on”
  • Another morning while rushing her off to school “Mommy, stop talking so much”
  • The difficult conversation of discussing siblings “Would you like a brother or a sister? , she thinks for a while “yes”, which one? a brother and a sister. “yes”, are you sure? “no, I want a puppy!”
  • Me singing along to something “mommy please don’t sing” Me – Really? she is 3!!!
  • Me dancing trying to join in with her while she busts a move ” mommy you can’t dance”  Me – Hangs head in shame at being told off by my 3 yr old!

I love her to bits and being a mom is truly the most difficult but at the same time most rewarding job ever.

Growing up to quickly..

Growing up to quickly..

In planning a 3rd birthday for my beautiful little girl it has finally hit me that she is growing up! I think as parents we want to keep them as little as possible for as long we can. It amazes me every day the new things she has learned and how her personality is developing (strangely into one similar to mine). She has her own preferences and moods which are sometimes difficult to deal with, but all in all I am enjoying every second of being her mom and feel complete when I hear those words “Mommy…… I Love You” – what more could you ask for.

I hope to cherish each of these moments so that I can remember them forever. If I could put them into a box i definitely would. Being a parent has to be one of the most difficult but most rewarding jobs you could ever have. My only wish would be that I had more time to spend with her.
