Love is…

Love is…

If I speak in the languages of humans and angels but have no love, I have become a reverberating gong or a clashing cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can understand all secrets and every form of knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains but have no love, I am nothing. Even if I give away everything that I have and sacrifice myself, but have no love, I gain nothing.

Love is always patient;

love is always kind;

love is never envious

or arrogant with pride.

Nor is she conceited,

and she is never rude;

she never thinks just of herself

or ever get annoyed.

She never is resentful;

is never glad with sin,

but always glad to side with truth,

whene’er the truth should win.

She bears up under everything,

believes the best in all,

there is no limit to her hope,

and she will never fall.

                                       If there are languages, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For what we know is incomplete and what we prophesy is incomplete. But when what is complete comes, then what is incomplete will be done away with.

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up my childish ways. Now we see only an indistinct image in a mirror, but then we will be face to face. Now what I know is incomplete, but then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

Right now three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

My to do list 2012!

My to do list 2012!

Being someone who needs focus I am trying to set some goals for myself, it really is the only way to accomplish anything. With so much going on between , work and family I have been exhausted. Life is just too busy, and its starting to feel like it is really passing me by. I need to stop, relax and enjoy it more. I was inspired by this. So (God Willing) I hope to achieve the following.

  1. Relax & spend more time with my family.
  2. Fill my house with new and inspiring books.
  3. Do more things I love: Baking, Home DIY, Blogging
  4. Teach my daughter new things – painting, music, gardening.
  5. Complete my home:  We recently bought a “fixer upper” – you can read more about it here. There is still quite a lot to do.
  6. Visit my gran more – she  will be 90 this year, and I cant help but wonder how much longer she will be with us.
  7. Love.
  8. Practice patience
  9. Learn a new skill set
  10. Start playing the piano again – It was a great love of mine.

More often than not we get thrown curve balls along the way and in real life we don’t get to plan how we want things to play out. God already has that taken care of. Having said that it still makes me feel better to have something to work towards.

Growing up to quickly..

Growing up to quickly..

In planning a 3rd birthday for my beautiful little girl it has finally hit me that she is growing up! I think as parents we want to keep them as little as possible for as long we can. It amazes me every day the new things she has learned and how her personality is developing (strangely into one similar to mine). She has her own preferences and moods which are sometimes difficult to deal with, but all in all I am enjoying every second of being her mom and feel complete when I hear those words “Mommy…… I Love You” – what more could you ask for.

I hope to cherish each of these moments so that I can remember them forever. If I could put them into a box i definitely would. Being a parent has to be one of the most difficult but most rewarding jobs you could ever have. My only wish would be that I had more time to spend with her.
